BurlsMost burls are a method of healing that the tree uses when it has been damaged such as a broken limb. Huge amounts of the tree natural resins are sent to the damaged area so that it can heal itself. After a while a mound forms on the tree which gets larger as the tree gets older and larger its self.
As a wood turner I love to turn burls each one is as unique as a finger print.
